About Dr. Kenneth Tan
My Story
As an introvert, I found comfort in how my childhood dentist made me feel safe and welcomed, and that impression never left me.
Dentistry has always felt personal to me.
At NUS, I was taught by Dr. Ronnie Yap, whose mentorship shaped both my career and values. I later joined him at dePacific, where I worked alongside him for 15 years.
It was there that I first understood the profound impact of sleep on health. He introduced me to James Nestor’s book Breath, which sparked my journey into sleep medicine.
After the pandemic, I became even more aware of how breathing and sleep quality affect not just individuals but families.

My Approach
Patient-centred care
I believe every patient deserves to be heard and supported.
My role is to ensure they feel comfortable, well-informed, and confident in the treatment choices we make together.
Holistic dentistry
To me, dentistry is not just about teeth — it’s about overall health.
By focusing on airway health, sleep quality, and oral function, I help patients live healthier and more energetic lives.
Collaboration across fields
I often work with sleep physicians, ENTs, speech and oromyofunctional therapists to create treatment plans that go beyond dentistry.
This team-based approach ensures patients get the best outcomes possible.
"My journey began with a childhood dentist who made me feel safe and cared for. Today, I strive to do the same for my patients, creating treatments that are not only scientifically sound but also compassionate and life-changing."

Beyond Dentistry
Giving back is an important part of who I am. I’ve volunteered at Dover Park Hospice, providing palliative care, and join my church’s yearly dental mission trip.

Outside of work, I live by the saying “the greatest wealth is health.” I enjoy swimming, working out at the gym, and spending time with my family.
I’m happily married with two children who play competitive badminton, and we share our home with a Cavapoo and foster dogs waiting for their forever homes.
